About Us
Greyhound Adoption Center (formerly Greyhound Pets of America/California Adoption Center) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that was founded in 1987.  Our kennel facility is in San Diego, California, but we have volunteers throughout California and Nevada.

Mission Statement
We are dedicated to rescuing greyhounds and placing them in responsible, loving homes throughout California and southern Nevada.  We do not differentiate between tattooed (ex-racing) and non-tattooed greyhounds.  We will not refuse to take in a dog due to age or medical condition.  For us, every life counts.  And for that reason, we oppose the existence of greyhound racing, a cruel enterprise that has cost thousands of greyhound lives.

Our Purpose
Our goal is to find a home for every greyhound we rescue, regardless of how long the dog must live at our adoption center.  As a no-kill rescue organization, we will never place a time limit on a greyhound's stay at our kennel, and we will never take the life of one of our greyhounds unless a condition exists such that the dog has no quality of life.  We strive to place all dogs in quality homes as beloved, indoor family pets.  We go to great lengths to match each dog with an adopter, taking into consideration other family members, children, other pets and surroundings.  We want to ensure that each and every home selected will be a permanent home for a greyhound, and that each and every greyhound will live out its life in the happiest environment possible.

Our Work
Greyhound Adoption Center rescues and adopts out approximately 200 greyhounds per year.  It is difficult to quantify how many people we actually assist through our web site.  We receive E-mail inquiries and questions from dog lovers around the world.

Services and Programs
We rescue greyhounds and adopt them into loving homes as well as hold educational events to acquaint the public with greyhounds as adoptable pets.

Volunteers
Our volunteers need to be at least 18 years old.  They are used to transport Greyhounds to adoptive homes, to staff our information booths, and to assist with fund raising efforts.
