About Us
The Clovis Animal Shelter was founded in 1967.  We are a government (animal control) agency working to protect and care for animals within the City of Clovis.

Our Purpose
Our purposes are to assist in keeping animals off roadways and ensuring public safety; to adopt animals out to loving homes or to rescue groups; to provide education and information on animal-related issues; to investigate animal abuse and enforce all state and local animal-related laws; to ensure that animals are treated with respect and dignity while in our care; to make certain that the animals who are euthanized are treated in a humane manner, and to promote spay and neuter services.

Our Work
We assist approximately 4,000 dogs and cats in our shelter every year.  Our animal control officers respond to approximately 9,000 animal-related calls annually in which they assist humans and/or animals.

Services and Programs
We respond within the City of Clovis to remove deceased animals from roadways; handle complaints regarding barking dogs, at large animals, vicious dogs, and calls regarding injured animals; we remove wildlife when needed; we investigate cases of cruelty; we handle licensing of dogs; prepare animal bite reports; work closely with the Clovis Police Department on animal related issues; enforce all state and local animal-related laws; we handle livestock-related calls; and we adopt out dogs and cats to loving homes and rescue groups.

Volunteers
We are always looking for volunteers.  They must be over the age of 16, file an application with the City of Clovis and pass a background check and fingerprint screening through the FBI and Department of Justice.  They will help with cleaning kennels, walking dogs, giving vaccinations, socializing kittens, temperament testing of dogs, leash training, and bathing animals in the summer time.
