About Us
The Central California SPCA was formed in 1946. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to prevent cruelty to animals, relieve animal suffering and promote the quality of life and well-being of all living creatures through education, protection, placement and example.
Our Work
We assist hundreds of thousands of people and animals in the Central Valley each year. Every day we have citizens come into our facility to adopt, locate lost pets, and surrender animals. We facilitate the adoption of all types of pets to loving homes through our adoption program. Our Animal Control Officers respond to thousands of requests each year to recover deceased animals, pick up stray animals, investigate complaints of animal cruelty, and enforce the animal control codes and ordinances of Fresno City and County.
Services and Programs
Our services and programs include adoptions; cruelty investigations; enforcing all state and local animal related laws; responding to injured animal calls; responding to vicious dog calls; pet licensing; veterinary hospital; low cost vaccination clinics; human education; a spay/neuter program; pet-facilitated therapy program; pet loss support group; grooming parlor; foster care program; columbarium and cremation.
Volunteers
We are always looking for volunteers. They must be over the age of 18 unless accompanied by an adult. Volunteers are needed to help with fund-raising events, community outreach booths, exercising animals, helping with leash training, bathing animals, assist with cleaning, daily cleaning chores (sweeping and mopping), laundry, feeding, and petting and socializing the animals. We are also looking for foster care volunteers to temporarily house and raise our very young puppies and kittens.
